DISTILL BAR (SUMMERLIN) ******                                LOCATION: LAS VEGAS The Distill Bar in the Summerlin area is certainly a lively and happening spot! Even on a Wednesday evening it was bursting at the seams, with the guests in a much more festive and optimistic mood than the mere middle of the week would call for.  The place itself looks fairly spacious, with a lovely patio (equipped with cozy fireplaces), a large, round bar and TV screens everywhere (which would probably make it a very accommodating choice if you wish to watch a sports event). As far as seating goes, Distill pretty much offers anything in the range: regular and high tables, intimate booths, deep armchairs and, of course, bar stools. It’s also divided into several different sections, so you can find the one that suits you best (or just happens to be currently unoccupied, judging by the popularity of the venue). The décor of this establishment is kept in the style of an old-fashioned country bar, with lots of dark wood (furniture and wall ornaments), cheerful, colorful graphics and interesting light fixtures. The dim, subdued lighting creates the perfect atmosphere for partying. If you are bored with just socializing and boozing up (or would like to appear distant and mysterious to the opposite sex), you can excuse yourself to indulge in some video games or pool playing, as both activities are available on the premises. The bar also features gaming machines if you feel the sudden desire for a spontaneous romance with Lady Luck. Besides being a very high-energy, upbeat place just perfect to let down your hair and knock back a few cocktails, Distill will also feed you with an extensive selection of various dishes. Any kind of fast food you might crave, but also healthy fare such as salads or lean entrees can be prepared for your pleasure. Both the drinks and culinary delicacies are very moderately priced and tasty, with large, satisfying portions. The servers make a friendly, open impression and even though they seemed a little overwhelmed with the amount of guests sometimes, they still made an effort to check on us periodically to make sure we had everything we needed.   Another aspect of the experience that I truly enjoyed was the music. It consisted of a mixture capable of catering to very eclectic tastes. And so in my time there I was treated to hip-hop, electro dance, rock and pop (I especially loved the classic oldies from the 80s and 90s). Just enough modern sound to make the place trendy and enough evergreen hits to appeal to our nostalgic side. Advertised as “a neighborhood bar”, with its warm and cordial approach Distill obviously wants to distance itself from the commercialism and anonymity of the casinos and gaming industry. The people running it certainly treat the whole enterprise with a lot of humor and easy going charm and it looks like this business model is working out very well indeed. A very inviting, casual and fun place to spend an evening. Highly recommended!
