YOLOS  MEXICAN GRILL ******                           LOCATION: LAS VEGAS Website: http://www.planethollywoodresort.com/restaurants/yolos.html#.UuOC28vTm00 Located at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino Las Vegas, Yolos turned out to be one of those lovely surprises life sometimes throws at you in the most unexpected moments. We were looking for a decent place to grab a quick bite before a show that we attended at PH. I picked this Mexican Cantina, because I really liked their menu, but truth be told I did not expect much. Well, I was wrong.  This is actually a wonderful place! First of all whoever designed and decorated the space deserves a medal for doing such a great job with the lights and colors. They are vibrant and vivid, yet manage to create a very relaxing, chilled-out atmosphere. The lighting is dim, the tables cozy and comfortable. The only aspect of the ambience I could have done without were the sounds and glimpses of the casino surrounding the venue, but that can’t be helped and I guess you just have to learn to kind of blend it out… We also absolutely loved the service: both the hostess and waitress were very friendly and helpful. Since we were going to a show directly afterwards we obviously did not want to stuff ourselves, especially with the more risky-sounding, adventurous dishes. Is it ever a good idea to eat refried beans when you expect to be sitting on very close quarters with a hundred of your fellow human beings? I am sure some of them have done horrible, unspeakable things in the past, but do they truly deserve to be subjected to such hazardous behavior? Therefore we just ordered some Flautas and the Tostada Salad with steak. I am indeed happy to report both those dishes tasted delightful. Please be advised that their menu is not huge, but they offer a bit of everything, so no matter if you prefer something small or a full, hearty meal, they can cater to your taste. Some of their cocktails sound quite intriguing, for example the Jalapeno and Cucumber Margarita. Now I really have to go back there just to try that one! Best of all their prices could only be described as a bargain, very hard to find those combined with actual quality anywhere on the Strip… I would probably not go as far as to recommend Yolos as a venue to celebrate a birthday or an anniversary, that might be stretching it a bit too far. If you are looking for a casual place to have a nice dinner, however, and maybe a margarita or two, then this is your perfect hosting candidate.
